Little #2: Take Advil for Emotional Pain

Make Life Easier

In episode 97 of Happier with Gretchen Rubin, Gretchen and Elizabeth talk to a friend and fellow podcaster who’s going through a breakup. (Skip to 30:50)

She talks about dealing with the pain and the loss associated with the breakup, and Gretchen and Elizabeth are seeing if they can work with her to improve her situation.

During the chat, Elizabeth suggests that she try taking Advil (or other over-the-counter pain reliever) to help ease the pain.

According to Gretchen, research shows that emotional pain operates in the same way as physical pain. So, she suggested that her guest try that when the heartache is particularly painful to help relieve those symptoms.

I’ve not tried this one myself, but I’m really curious to know if it works! If you’ve tried it, please drop a comment in the Easier Facebook Group and let me know!
